Alluring illusory, courage, flair of freedom - this, of course, is a little defiant and even ... dizzying, but that's the point.

60s: hot and stylish! Burda Special Project 07/2019

The original style of op-art (op-art - short for optical art - optical art) literally blew fashion, born from the same trend in painting.

60s style

What are characteristic of the 60s of the last century? Perhaps the main thing is the triumph of the spirit of freedom and, as a result, miniskirts, synthetic fabrics and the first avant-garde advertising. Therefore, it was then that several non-trivial styles were born, which were destined to turn ideas about fashion. Op art appeared at that time. His father was the Parisian artist Vasarely, who used a special printing technique of repeatedly applying layers of paint, creating a three-dimensional space using optical illusion. Op art is based on lines, triangles, squares, circles ... intricately intertwined, giving rise to new forms.

Illusory print effect

Someone categorically denied op-art futurism, not accepting its “artificiality” and illusory nature, but some of the most daring couturiers were seriously interested in such an unusual effect and embodied it in their works. Andre Kurrezh, Mary Quant, Larry Aldrich willingly used the optical effect of new prints in their models.

Vibrant geometry

Op art feels great today in youth clothes - take a look at collages or images of style legends on T-shirts, bags.Bright geometry is a favorite theme of some pop stars, and the masters, for example Franco Moskino, are passionate about op art. But in everyday life, you need to be careful. Just one or two things or an accessory with an "illusory effect" is enough, look in the solid op art is good only for the youngest, slim and daring. The main thing is not to overdo it. Here are a few models and images from Burda in the style of op art, which will bring a bright, eccentric note to your usual wardrobe and give you a great mood.
