On August 17, in the midst of the competitions of the XXXI Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, the P&G Family House opened its doors for Russian guests.

Athletes, their mothers and members of their families met to celebrate the success of the Russian team and wish the athletes success on the road to new victories. Although most of the competition is over, many Russian Olympians have yet to show everything they can do in the main sports arena of the planet before the eyes of millions of spectators.

The success story of every Olympian is not only hours of training, great work, tears of joy and grief of defeat. It is also the support of relatives, relatives, and, first of all, mothers. It is the mother who knows the whole history of the ups and downs of her child on the way to the cherished goal - Olympic gold.
As the Worldwide Partner of the Olympic Games and Honorary Sponsor of Moms, P&G knows how important the support of loved ones is for each athlete. The program "Thank you, mom" is a great opportunity to look at the Olympic Games in terms of family, love, care and the tremendous efforts that mothers make on the way of becoming their children. The P&G Family Home is at the heart of P&G's Olympic Hospitality program “Thank you, Mom!” and the company's main initiative during the Games.
The Russian holiday at the P&G Family House brought together Russian athletes, their mothers, relatives and friends, as well as their coaches - people without whom Olympic success would not have been possible. The President of the Russian Olympic Committee, Alexander Zhukov, visited the P&G Family House as a special guest. He noted the success of the team and wished the Russian athletes good results at the Rio Olympics. Russian Day at the P&G Family House has become another important event in the framework of cooperation between the P&G and the Olympic Committee of Russia, which has been going on for several years and has established itself as an important and trusting partnership.
Alexander Zhukov, President of the Russian Olympic Committee: "Supporting athletes and their families during the Games is a very important and honorable mission with which P&G does an excellent job. I believe that the P&G Olympic Partnership program is a wonderful initiative that embodies the right approach to supporting not only sports, but also family values, because for each athlete their loved ones really do a lot, and without them, not a single athlete could reach heights in sports. Any athlete of any level, a beginner, an Olympic champion, needs the support of parents, friends, fans, and P&G gives them this opportunity with the help of such a wonderful place as the P&G Family House. "
All participants of the event noted the warm and sincere atmosphere of the P&G Family House - a place where athletes and their mothers are always waiting for a cozy atmosphere of the highest level of service from P&G brands such as Pantene®, Gillette® and Head & Shoulders and Tide. This is a real “home away from home” where the Olympians and their mothers can meet, relax and share their impressions of the Games.

Craig Buchholz, P&G Vice President of Global Corporate Communications: "We are very pleased to welcome Russian guests at the Family House P&G in Rio. Though P&G does not produce sports goods, we have long and successfully cooperated with the global Olympic movement, supporting Olympic values and ideals. When we talk about high achievement sports, we should never forget who is behind the outstanding successes and world famous names of athletes. Here, in the Family House, everything serves our main mission - to help mothers and relatives with athletes, and to make their time in Rio more pleasant and comfortable. We believe that mothers and their children-athletes have a common history, therefore it is so important for us to create a place for families where they can meet and share the most emotional moments of victory and triumph. "
The success of children is inextricably linked with the fact that parents invested in them in the first years of life. Mom’s work sometimes goes unnoticed, but this daily sacrifice and the manifestation of Mom’s unique strength has enabled hundreds and thousands of people around the world to achieve their goals. This would not have been possible without mothers, therefore, helping mothers, P&G supports their children - Olympic athletes. Irina Ishchenko, mother of Natalia Ishchenko, an outstanding synchronized swimming athlete, four-time Olympic champion, 19-time world champion and 9-time European champion, and Elena Shishkina, mother of Alla Shishkina, 2012 Olympic champion, participated in Russian Day at Family P&G house.

Irina Ishchenko: "We are very grateful to the company P&G for the invitation to participate in the Olympic program and for the attention she pays to mothers, their needs and desires. Sometimes extra words are not needed, just say “thank you”, and every mother needs this at times. In the P&G Family House, I was able to feel real coziness, comfort and care - this is really a home away from home, where the athletes themselves, and the closest people who came to support them, can relax and unwind on these important and difficult days for all of us. "
This year another person came to the Olympics, closely connected with the history of Olympic success of Natalia Ishchenko - this is Lada Stepanovich, the first coach of the famous synchronized synchronist. From her experience, Lada knows very well that parents and mentors need to work together to make a real Olympic champion out of a child: “In the success of an athlete, the parents’ trust in the coach plays a very important role, they should think in one direction. The trainer is always focused on the result, and parents should do everything possible to motivate the child and support him at the right time. Each young athlete goes through a stage, when he gives up - and only the internal strength of the mother and the child himself allows him to overcome this stage and lead him to real victories. "

Olympic champion Tatyana Lebedeva shared her impressions of visiting the P & G Family House: “Now we all in Rio are very rooting for our athletes and wish them victory! I know what the Olympic medal is and these feelings cannot be expressed in words. It’s very good that many of the athletes’ mothers are with us. When I watch the performances of our athletes, I always remember my years of training and the difficult path that we went with my mother - I would hardly have managed without her support. The games are not over yet - and I’m sure that our guys will have many more ups, unforgettable moments, and, of course Olympic medals. "
Daria Shkurikhina and Anna Gavrilenko, 2008 Olympic champions in rhythmic gymnastics, and Galina Evgenievna Gorokhova, President of the Russian Union of Athletes and Three-time Olympic fencing champion, shared their stories of becoming in sport and the role of mother on a difficult path to the highest sports awards.
The P&G family house opened its doors on the eve of the Rio Olympics. Here, athletes and their families can spend free time, take a break from the competition, chat with loved ones and enjoy the comfort of Procter & Gamble. A unique platform unites all P&G brands with a single goal - to surround guests with care, to let them feel at home thousands of kilometers from their home country. Pantene and Aussie beauty salon, Cover Girl manicure station, Pampers changing tables, Gillette and Head & Shoulders men’s studio, Tide laundry and much more - P&G did everything possible to keep athletes and their mothers at home throughout the Olympics.
