Bandana: practical and fashionable

A scarf or scarf made of colored fabric - a bandana - is tied to the head, forehead, neck, belt, arm, accessories, etc., etc.

Historically, a bandana is inextricably linked to wild or semi-civilized nomads. But most often it is associated with American cowboys, driving large herds of cattle from place to place across the expanses of the prairies. And when puffs of dust rise from beneath the hooves of horses or cows, cowboys quickly raise a kerchief tied to their necks over their faces.
In Central Asia and North Africa, riders wore such scarves on their heads instead of hats, and they also covered their faces with the ends of the scarves when dust clouds approached or during a sandstorm. Those who rode across the desert in ATVs also most likely used a bandana. In some countries, Muslim women, leaving their homes, tie headscarves in the shape of a bandana too.

This summer the bandana is a fashion hit (pictured above is a model from HERMES). The bandana is not just tied on the forehead or on the head in a variety of ways - see the descriptions in the form of drawings below, but also wrap around the arm instead of bracelets, use instead of the belt or in addition to it (see below), tie it on handbags (see slide show), worn like a necklace ...

Leather bandana is a traditional attribute of bikers. Bandanas with logos, slogans, and symbols are often worn by representatives of the informal style, athletes, and even members of clubs and organizations.

But in summer, bandanas most often replace hats and caps, as well as hats for swimming. For the latter, it is enough to tie the opposite ends under the hair, and then carefully tuck everything inward. But there are many other ways to beautifully tie a scarf on the head, including with a spectacular bow.
If you fold the scarf diagonally, hiding the ends inside, you will get a strip that can be tied to the forehead.


The same strip can be twisted into a tourniquet and used as a headband. A small scarf can also be folded and tied around the head, but the ends can be released not at the back of the head, but from above or from the side (jokes to the knot brooch in the shape of a flower or a large rhinestone, you will get a spectacular solid hair band). You can braid several multi-colored scarves.
In the coming season, it is fashionable to wear a scarf or scarf around the neck. A short scarf can be tied in a knot so that the ends diverge in different directions - it is better to do this with a scarf made of thick silk. A large shawl of lightweight fabric is usually draped around the neck or knotted at the chest level.
Large scarves and long scarves made of lightweight fabrics are often used instead of a belt, for example, twisting a scarf or scarf and threading through loops, not only women but also men. It is fashionable to tie short scarves and scarves on only one belt loop of trousers or around the handle or shoulder strap of a bag, backpack, postman.

HOW TO SEW A BANDGANA WITH BLOCKS AND CORD

Pattern: width = head circumference + 20 cm. Height = head circumference.
Description of work: Punch blocks in pairs at equal intervals around the entire circumference: circle radius = half head circumference + 2 cm. Thread the cord into the blocks, put on the ends of the cord.
